QUESTION POSED ON: 16 September 2006
Is it possible that running two or more antispyware programs at the same time could be counterproductive? I am currently using SpyBot but it seems to be interfering with every program being installed, especially during its registry settings. Can you help?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Given the fact that antispyware tools have proven unworthy in removing spyware all by themselves, I don't think it's counterproductive at all. I do the same thing just to be safe. If it's truly getting in your way or slowing down your computer you could always disable the run-time protection. The only problem with that is that you won't get real-time protection against the threats and will need to run full system scans very often (i.e. once a day or more).
